Lecornu announced additional SCALP missiles for Ukraine and made a forecast regarding Trump.
France decided to transfer ten SCALP missiles to Ukraine and resume deliveries of Mistral missiles. This was reported by the French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
According to Lecornu, the document on the supply of SCALP missiles was signed in recent days. This is the fulfillment of a promise that the French President Emmanuel Macron made to the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. These missiles will allow Ukrainian military forces to strike on the front line.
Given possible Russian attacks in winter, France will also start supplying Mistral air defense missiles to protect combat zones. Currently, 2000 Ukrainian soldiers are receiving training in France with French equipment.
Regarding possible changes in the US support for Ukraine, the French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot believes that Donald Trump will not approve the annexation of territories. He also noted that a just peace cannot be achieved without considering the interests of Ukraine and Europe.
However, Lecornu urged Europe not to rely entirely on the US for security issues. He emphasized the importance of developing its own military potential and increasing the defense budgets of European countries.
