In a statement made on March 15 at the MUZWAR awards, she discussed her competition preparations, the difficulties posed by Ukraine's winter conditions, and the messages she aims to convey through her song. Leleka returned to Ukraine in February 2023, a period marked by severe hardships including power, water, and heating outages. While acknowledging the challenges, she noted that the situation brings back memories of her childhood:

“But, you know, on one hand, yes, we know there is a different level of comfort where you don't have to do all this. On the other hand, for me it really reminds me of childhood, because I grew up in a house that never had hot water.” - Leleka

Leleka observed that Ukrainians are living through difficult times, adding: “We live in challenging times, but on the other hand, I don't remember when times were ever easier.” She stressed the importance of using art to highlight the beauty of Ukrainian culture: “And as a Ukrainian woman, of course, first and foremost it is important for me to showcase through art—even if it sounds cliché now—the beauty of Ukrainian culture.”
