Surprise from Judd Trump

According to The Sun: Judd Trump admits he is 'a bit surprised' by the new epidemic of maximum 147 points in snooker, but he has his own explanation for this phenomenon.

This season there have already been 13 impressive maximum results, with two of them happening on the same day – on Tuesday.

Maximum results of the season

At the Grand Prix in China, Trump, 36, reached the maximum during his victory over Ng On Yi, recording one of his 147 points.

On the same day, Aaron Hill also achieved a maximum 147 points in a match against Juan Jiahao.

The epidemic of maximum results began with Fan Zhengyi during the League Championship in July. He was followed by Zhang Anda, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh - twice, Ronnie O'Sullivan - twice, Xiao Guodong, Zhou Yuelong, Ali Carter, and Gary Wilson.

A total of 15 maximum 147s have been recorded this season, and the likelihood of this record being broken is increasing.

Trump is not really surprised as he believes that this is due to the general increase in the level of play on the tour. He notes that constant 147s not only raise players' ambitions but also motivate them to strive for crazy results.

Trump told WST: “It has been some time. Many other people are already making 147s, and it looks easy, so I feel it’s time for me to do it.”

“It was particularly nice to do it in China, the atmosphere was very friendly, people were very supportive.”

“I don’t feel like the pockets have gotten bigger or anything has changed. I think the tables this season have been quite tough and tricky.”
“It’s a bit strange that everyone is doing them. I think the level of play has simply improved. Everyone seems to want to achieve maximum results now.”

“I think this is the new norm, players have become more relaxed. From the first shot, you just aim for 147.”

“The more you see others doing it, the more you feel like you’re being left behind and want to achieve the same.”
“The feeling you get as a snooker player is nice to win tournaments, but making a 147 is probably more special than anything.”
“I believe 147s are more special than tournament wins; I have won significantly more tournaments than maximums.”
These achievements in snooker indicate that the game is actively evolving. Players are becoming more skilled, and with each season, we can expect even more impressive results. Judd Trump, as one of the leading players in the world, is confident that such results will become the new normal in competitions, as players are eager to outdo each other and set new records.
