Producer is suing Lola Young: dispute over hit Messy.
According to The Sun: Lola Young is going through tough times: last week she announced that she would step away from the public eye for a while. Currently, information has emerged about a serious legal dispute that has been ongoing for several months.
Getty GettyIt has been revealed that producer Carter Lang claims he is owed money for the success of her hit 'Messy'. According to court documents, Lola has hired lawyers to resolve this situation.
The song, released in May last year, brought her fame and is nearing a billion streams on Spotify, which is a significant achievement for a track written in a bedroom.
Since 'Messy' topped the charts, Lola has become the youngest British singer to achieve such success since 2017, and the song has become one of the most successful this year.
Legal dispute with Carter Lang
According to a source:
“Lola and her team were shocked to learn that Carter wants a share of the success of 'Messy'.
“Now that 'Messy' is gaining momentum, he has come forward demanding money. This was a surprise for everyone.”
Lola wrote 'Messy' in her bedroom and later worked on the track with producers Jared Solomon, William Brown, and Conor Dickinson at 64 Sound studio in Los Angeles.
“Carter was involved in the production of her album 'This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway', but during the making of this song, his contribution was minimal.”
Lola wants to resolve this situation quickly as it is causing significant stress. The singer has always supported the people she has worked with.
Official statement from Lola's lawyers
The singer's lawyers commented:
“With great disappointment, we must respond to Carter Lang's recent claims regarding copyright on four of Lola Young's songs by filing a lawsuit.”
“Carter's claims are firmly denied, and we will not allow Lola's reputation to be questioned.”
It is especially distressing to learn about the severity of her situation, considering that Lola has canceled all her performances, mentioning her group during a performance in New York.
