The history of Saint Nicholas Day
Saint Nicholas is known for his kindness and compassion. Despite the persecution of Christians, he continued to spread the faith, helped the needy, and saved people from danger. When the Roman emperor ordered his imprisonment, he was freed by a new ruler. Since then, Nicholas continued to free captives, heal the sick, and support the poor. After his death, the relics of the saint also retained healing power for believers.
According to legends, Nicholas was born in a city called Patara in a devout family and studied the Holy Scriptures from an early age. He dedicated his life to serving God, became a bishop, made pilgrimages, and gave all his possessions to the needy. His good deeds and secret help to the poor made him a symbol of miracles and charity.

This tradition continues to live in the hearts of many Ukrainian families, connecting them with the history and cultural heritage of the country.
