Middlesex aims to become a private club
According to The Sun: Middlesex intends to become the fourth first-class club to transition to private ownership to raise funds for a new stadium. This club, which has won the county championship 13 times, currently rents Lord's stadium, resulting in a loss of opportunity to generate additional income from non-cricket events.
Middlesex also hosts its matches at a number of other stadiums, including Merchant Taylors’ School, Richmond, and Radlett.
“We believe this step is necessary to secure the future of our club and create new opportunities for growth.”
The transition to private ownership could be a significant milestone in Middlesex's development, expanding the club's financial capabilities. It may also positively affect the ability to attract new investments and organize larger events at the stadium in the future.
