Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church in Europe dismissed for playing poker: details of the scandal.
The Metropolitan Nestor, who managed the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Western Europe, came under ecclesiastical trial due to playing poker. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing church researcher Ksenia Luchenko.
According to inkorr.com: According to the information provided by Ksenia Luchenko, the Metropolitan of Korsun and Western Europe Nestor (Syrotenko) participated in a sports poker tournament in the Czech Republic. This news spread on social media and triggered numerous church intrigues, prompting the patriarch to issue an appropriate decree.
The management of the Western European Exarchate went to Metropolitan Mark
After the dismissal of Metropolitan Nestor, the management of the Western European Exarchate, which includes the countries of France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy, has temporarily passed to Metropolitan Mark (Golovkov), who previously served as the acting head of the Budapest Diocese.
Thus, Metropolitan Nestor's participation in the poker tournament led to ecclesiastical trial and his dismissal from office, while the management of the exarchate was transferred to Metropolitan Mark.
