One of the reasons why young people refuse to have children is climate change. The younger generation has a fear that descendants will have an even more negative impact on the planet, or that they will not be able to interact with it properly in the future. This was reported by climatologist, head of the laboratory of applied climatology at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute, Svitlana Krakowska, in an interview with lb.ua.

According to her, a phenomenon that has been named 'climate change anxiety' is becoming widespread. Krakowska emphasizes that this condition especially manifests in the youth.

As the scientist explains, people say: 'I will not have children because I don't want them to suffer, I don't want them to impact the climate system even more.'

'For example, my older daughter was thinking about this for some Time, and I didn't know how to respond. But then I found the words: 'Listen, you are so aware, and billions of people who will have children are not, they won't be able to raise them like this, but you can teach your children how to live on this planet in harmony with it,' explained the climatologist.

Let us remind, an island from the Franz Josef Land archipelago has melted due to climate changes.

Sharp rise in lake temperatures by 2100

New research has also shown that lakes around the world will face a sharp rise in temperatures by 2100 due to anthropogenic climate change. This warming will be unprecedented and will affect both the surface and deep layers of lakes, endangering the existence of many species. Scientists used a climate model and lake temperature data to model the dynamics and thermodynamics of lake systems. The results showed that the warming will be much stronger than ever before.

Global warming and its consequences

Global warming also provokes powerful rains and hurricanes, and as a result, it changes the climate. In recent weeks, as is known, extreme storms have caused floods and landslides, which have led to the deaths of hundreds of people in parts of Africa, Europe, Asia, and the USA.

In their latest review, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, working under the auspices of the UN, identified an accelerated water cycle on the planet caused by global warming. The result of this are sharp weather fluctuations.
