In Lviv's children's hospital named after St. Nicholas, on November 2, a two-year-old girl from Ternopil region died as a result of poisoning by a death cap mushroom. This was reported by Zaxid.net

The child was in a very serious condition since October 30, when she was brought to the hospital with severe liver damage. Lviv doctors performed a timely liver transplant, but it did not help save the child.

The information about the girl's death was confirmed both in the hospital and by the police of Ternopil region. According to the police, the family consumed mushrooms as early as October 27, but the mother tried to treat the children at home herself. It was only after the children's condition significantly worsened that she turned to the hospital.

As a result of the poisoning, seven more children from a large family and a 59-year-old man who collected the mushrooms were affected. Two children are in a Lviv hospital, one of them is in a severe condition in intensive care. Five more children were sent to Kyiv's "Okhmatdyt," where four are in serious condition and need liver transplants.

Family tragedy

From the website of the National Police in Ternopil region, it became known that the first to die from the poisoning was a man born in 1965. This happened on November 1 in the hospital. The next day, the young daughter of his cohabitant died from poisoning.

Law enforcement officers in Ternopil region initiated criminal proceedings for mass poisoning of children under the article on gross neglect of child care duties, which led to serious consequences. The article's sanction provides for up to five years in prison.

It is known that in US fast food chains, onions are gradually being removed from menus. This decision was a response to the McDonald's scandal, where an outbreak of illnesses caused by E. coli was recorded in ten states.

Recall that in Khmelnytsky region, the first case of botulism in 2024 was recorded. A woman was brought to the hospital after being poisoned by homemade meat preserves.

By the way, in the next 5-10 years, Ukrainians, like all Europeans, should be ready for the pandemic of several diseases. This includes measles, flu, polio, and cholera, stated the Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.
