The Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Reported How Many People Remain in Pokrovsk.
In Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, there are 12 thousand people living, including 68 children, reported the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin.
«Almost all families with children assured that they will leave the city in the near future», noted Filashkin.
He also reported that hospitals have already been evacuated, but several family doctors are still working. Some stores and Ukrposhta also continue to function, but the situation in the city is worsening every day.
Filashkin also reported that approximately 400 people live in Chasiv Yar. Some residents decided to stay due to attachment to the place, the lack of opportunity for evacuation, or other reasons. Local authorities continue to provide support to residents who have remained, although the situation in Chasiv Yar is difficult.
The Path of Russian Troops to Pokrovsk
Russian troops are advancing towards Pokrovsk with the aim of capturing the mine where coking coal is extracted.
Putin's Strategy
Western journalists report that Putin plans to capture the entire Donetsk region, and the battle for Pokrovsk may become a central event in his military campaign.
Former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service Mykola Malomuzh stated that the Russian army will not be able to capture Pokrovsk by October 1 or later, but the occupiers are still trying to enter the city.
