Bright Flowers in Winter: Which Plants Bloom at Home and Create Comfort.
According to ТСН: Bright plants in winter not only please the eye but also significantly improve the microclimate in the home. They add colors to the winter interior with their leaves, create comfort, purify the air, enriching it with oxygen, and maintain optimal humidity levels.
Tropical plants look especially beautiful. Unlike many other houseplants that calm down during winter, these species, such as poinsettia or schlumberger, actively grow and bloom, as the shorter daylight signals them to form flower buds. In Ukraine, autumn and winter months create ideal conditions for their blooming. These plants do not need heat – on the contrary, they feel more comfortable in a cool climate, which can be a challenge for gardeners. Therefore, many plant lovers create winter mini-gardens on balconies or loggias, where they can create comfortable conditions for them.
Indoor Plants That Bloom in Winter
Azalea
Azalea, a house "relative" of garden rhododendrons, impresses with beautiful blooming in the cold season. It symbolizes longevity and prosperity. To ensure its blooming, a cool period of rest with a temperature of 6-10 degrees Celsius in October, diffuse light, and high humidity should be provided.
When flower buds appear, the temperature is raised to 15-18 degrees. It is essential to avoid drafts and direct sunlight, and for watering, use soft or slightly acidic water at room temperature.
Spraying should be done carefully, avoiding moisture on the flowers to prevent rot. If the buds dry out and fall off, it may indicate excessively dry or warm air.
To prolong azalea blooming, it is crucial to maintain coolness near the roots, for instance, placing the pot in a cooler cachepot or adding ice cubes to the tray, avoiding contact with the roots.
At a temperature of 12 degrees, azalea blooms for up to two months, while at high temperatures – only a few weeks.
Anthonyum Andre
Anthonyum Andre is a popular tropical plant with glossy heart-shaped leaves and bright bracts. The blooming period lasts from November to July.

From November to March, complex fertilizers should be applied every two weeks. It is important to protect the poinsettia from drafts and sharp temperature fluctuations.
Cyclamen
Cyclamen is a bulbous plant with beautiful flowers that can have various shapes and colors. In indoor conditions, it blooms from October to March.
The best temperature for it is 12-18 degrees and diffuse light. Watering should be done carefully, avoiding water on the bulb and leaves.
After blooming, watering is reduced, allowing the plant to enter a state of dormancy for 8-10 weeks.
Schlumbergera
Schlumbergera (zigocactus, Christmas cactus) is an undemanding plant that blooms in December. The flowers can have different shades, including pink, white, or purple.
For active blooming, cool temperatures and moderate watering during dormancy are needed, while during the budding stage, more light and warmth are necessary.
During blooming, it is important to maintain a stable microclimate and protect the plant from drafts.
