The film crew of the series Dear England robbed of £100,000: what happened.
According to The Sun: The England national football team has faced serious defeats multiple times, and even the fictional team is no exception.
Click News and Media GettyIt has become known that the new BBC series about Gareth Southgate suffered serious losses due to a theft – thieves stole equipment worth over 100,000 pounds.
This happened after the show’s stars changed into football kits to reenact England's unforgettable 4-0 defeat against Hungary in 2022.
“This theft was yet another terrible defeat for England – it's hard to believe,” said a source.
Witnesses reported that a group of people stormed the film set of the series in East London and stole a cart with expensive equipment.
“Stolen in a few minutes”
“It was a real theft with inevitable consequences. Equipment worth over 100,000 pounds was stolen in a few minutes,” he added.
Fortunately, no actors or crew members were harmed, but it became a serious issue for producers.
“The police were called to the scene, and an investigation is ongoing,” sources added.
The four-part project, based on James Graham's popular stage play, tells about Southgate's work as the coach of the England national team.
Filming continued despite the theft, with producers increasing security measures.
“No one wants a repeat of this incident, so measures have become even stricter. They are assisting the police in the investigation, but the equipment is probably already lost,” remarked a source.
This is not the first case where thieves have attempted to steal equipment from major television projects in the capital.
Last November, reports emerged of two attempted thefts during the filming of a Guy Ritchie drama, during which equipment valued at over 1 million pounds was stolen.
The series Dear England, which will soon appear on the BBC, in which Joseph Fiennes plays the role of Southgate, promises exciting moments if producers can avoid similar incidents in the future.
