Germany plans a new package of military aid to Ukraine, but limits the supply of heavy equipment

According to the information from the Bild publication, which cites sources in the German Ministry of Defense, Germany is halting the supply of heavy military vehicles to Ukraine.

This decision is made despite the fact that Germany has about 300 Leopard 2 tanks and an unknown number of infantry fighting vehicles and howitzers.

During the last visit of President Zelensky to Berlin, Chancellor Olaf Scholz could not give a positive response to the request to allow strikes deep into Russian territory and supply Taurus long-range missiles. Also, no progress was made on accelerating Ukraine's accession to NATO. However, Scholz did not categorically reject these requests.

At the same Time, the German Chancellor announced the intention to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth 1.4 billion euros by the end of the year. This package will include, in particular, air defense systems.

According to sources, Berlin currently doubts the possibility of a rapid counteroffensive from Ukraine.
