Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union Friedrich Merz believes that the refugee support system in Germany needs to be revised. He suggests aligning it more closely with the system used for political refugees to optimize budget expenditures.

Finance Minister Christian Lindner also supports the idea of reforming the social assistance system that encourages Ukrainians to seek employment.

Currently, social payments for refugees have increased by 12%. Children under 18 receive between 357 and 471 euros, while adults receive between 506 and 563 euros.
