McDonald's Network Food Poisoning in the USA: Victims Take Legal Action.
A Colorado resident has filed a lawsuit against McDonald's due to an E. coli outbreak caused by burgers. This is the first lawsuit related to this incident.
Eric Stelly, who filed the lawsuit, ate at one of the chain's restaurants about three weeks ago. He experienced cramps and nausea, and a few days later tested positive for E. coli.
In the lawsuit, Stelly accuses McDonald's of negligence. He seeks compensation of more than $50,000. The lawsuit was filed in the state of Illinois, where the company's headquarters is located.
From late September to early October, 48 people were affected by an E. coli outbreak in ten American states. As a result, one person died. Among the hospitalized is a child who developed kidney disease.
Most of the victims had a royal cheeseburger at McDonald's before feeling unwell. The company stated that the onions in the burgers might be the cause of the poisoning outbreak. Some batches of burgers supplied by Taylor Farms from Colorado were also recalled. In some states, McDonald's burgers were temporarily removed from the menu.
McDonald's announced a decline in sales worldwide, marking the first time in 13 quarters.
