The South Korean Parliament Failed to Impeach the President, Protests Erupted.

The National Assembly of South Korea was unable to declare impeachment against President Yoon Suk-yeol due to insufficient votes. The proposal to remove the head of state, related to attempts to introduce martial law, was rejected due to a lack of quorum.

According to the South Korean agency 'Yonhap News', most representatives of the ruling party 'People Power Party' boycotted the vote, with the exception of three deputies - Ahn Cheol-soo, Kim Ye-ji, and Kim Sang-wook, who voted against their party's position.

The remaining deputies left the chamber before the start of the secret voting. As a result, only 195 out of 300 registered deputies participated in the vote, while at least 200 votes were needed to pass the impeachment decision.

Meanwhile, the situation sparked massive protests. According to police, on December 7, about 149,000 demonstrators gathered outside the parliament building demanding the resignation of Yoon Suk-yeol.

At the same time, about 20,000 participants attended another rally organized in support of the president.
