U.S. President Donald Trump stated that negotiations with China regarding a possible deal on TikTok will begin as early as next week. He believes that the agreement for the sale of American operations of the app is practically finalized. 'I think we will start on Monday or Tuesday... conversations with China, possibly with President Xi or one of his representatives, but we are close to a deal,' Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. Such negotiations will take place under the condition of extending the deadline to September 17, by which ByteDance must sell the American TikTok assets. Earlier this spring, a deal was considered to spin off TikTok's American operations into a new company in the U.S. However, this process was halted due to China's refusal to approve the deal because of Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods. Trump noted that to gain approval for the deal from China, the U.S. may have to take certain steps. Regarding a possible agreement with China, he said: 'I'm not sure, but I think so. We have a great relationship with President Xi, and it is probably advantageous for them. I believe the deal is beneficial for both the U.S. and China.' Donald Trump announced that negotiations will begin regarding the TikTok deal with China. The deal is practically finalized, but several issues need to be resolved, including the approval of the deal by China.
