The idea for a pager operation in Lebanon arose in 2022 and began to be implemented more than a year before the Hamas attack on October 7
Israeli intelligence Mossad developed a plan using booby-trapped pagers that Hezbollah used in Lebanon. Apollo AR924 pagers were sold to militants under the guise of a secret special offer from a Taiwanese company. For nine years, Israelis eavesdropped on Hezbollah's communications using booby-trapped radios, but then the opportunity arose to use pagers outfitted with explosives. The operation was carried out by sending an encrypted message to the pagers, which caused the explosion of thousands of devices and inflicted thousands of injuries.
According to official sources, almost 3000 officers and Hezbollah members were killed or wounded as a result of this operation.
