Pension by age or disability: what is more beneficial after 60 years.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine provided explanations regarding the possibility of switching to an old-age pension for pensioners with a Group II disability who have reached 60 years of age. According to Ukrainian legislation, such pensioners can choose the most advantageous type of pension. A Group II disability pension amounts to 90% of the old-age pension, with additional consideration of the service period granted to them before reaching 60 years. This can be beneficial for those who acquired a disability at a young age.

However, there is an important argument in favor of transitioning. If a pensioner continued to work after being granted a disability pension and accumulated at least 24 months of insurance service, new rules for pension assignment apply when switching to an old-age pension. In such a case, the average salary is considered for the last three years, which can significantly increase the pension amount.
To change the type of pension, it is necessary to submit an application and the required documentation. Therefore, it is important to carefully consider all factors and contact the pension authorities for detailed consultations and calculations.
