Former Dynamo footballer Oleksandr Berezhnyi has passed away
Former Dynamo footballer Oleksandr Berezhnyi has passed away at the age of 68. This information was reported by 'Glavkom', citing 'Dynamo'.
Oleksandr was born in Sukhodolsk, Vorošilovhrad region (now Luhansk). He started playing football at the Youth Sports School in Krasnodon and at the 'Zoria' club in Vorošilovhrad. In 1976, he joined Kyiv's 'Dynamo' and played for the team for four seasons.
Along with the 'white-blues', Berezhnyi became the champion of the USSR in 1977 and won the USSR Cup in 1978. He was also twice included in the list of the 33 best footballers of the season, ranked #1 (1978) and #3 (1977).
Throughout his career, he played 14 matches for the USSR national team and was the European champion in 1976 as part of the youth national team.
Former Latvia national team footballer Andriy Prokhorenko dies
At the age of 48, former Latvia national team forward Andriy Prokhorenko has died. According to Latvian media, he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor at the end of 2024.
He made his debut for the Latvia national team in 2002 and played 32 matches, scoring four goals for the national team until 2007. He also participated in Euro 2004, where he made an assist.

The esports club Fnatic announced the death of legendary Polish player Maciej 'Shushei' Ratuszniak, who won the first world championship in League of Legends in June 2011. Ratuszniak was 36 years old.
