The Polish army has received the first batch of the latest model Abrams tanks.
The Ministry of Defense of Poland has announced that the first American Abrams tanks of the latest model have already arrived.
Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the first 28 Abrams M1A2SEPv3 tanks ordered by Poland are already on the territory of the country. After inspections, they will be accepted into service, reports European Truth.
'In total, we will have 250 such Abrams tanks,' the minister reminded.
These 250 state-of-the-art tanks, with a contract value of approximately 4.75 billion dollars including accompanying equipment, will supplement the already existing 116 older Abrams tanks.
During the years of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Poland ordered Abrams tanks twice. In April 2022, a contract was signed for 250 vehicles with a delivery timeline of 2025-26. Additionally, 116 older model Abrams were ordered with a faster delivery timeline, the last of which were delivered in the summer of 2024.
