According to inkorr.com: On September 11, at the age of 40, military psychologist and one of the founders of the public organization 'Ukrainian LGBT+ Military and Veterans for Equal Rights' Alexander Danilin, known in the LGBT+ community by the stage name Marlen Shkandal, has passed away. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
“There are no words to express the pain of loss. Unfortunately, your life was short, but the memory of you will be eternal,” reads a post on Danilin's page.
In February of this year, Alexander turned to the community with a request to collect 400,000 hryvnias for monthly therapy necessary for his life while awaiting a liver transplant.
Commemoration on Facebook
Policy and Legislation Coordinator Svyatoslav Sheremet dedicated a touching post on Facebook to Alexander Danilin. He emphasized that Alexander displayed courage by becoming the face of the community on the cover of the magazine 'One of Us' in 2008, and remained at the same time a modest and simple person despite his popularity.
In the documentary 'Queens of Joy', the lives and creativity of drag artists during the war are explored, where Marlen Shkandal shared his vision of the significance of creativity as a powerful tool.

Alexander Danilin was an important figure for the LGBT+ community in Ukraine. His activity not only positively influenced the rights of military personnel but also became a symbol of the struggle for equality in society. The memory of him will live in the hearts of those who knew him personally, as well as in those who drew inspiration from his creativity and activism.
