According to Novyny.live: Honored Artist of Ukraine Irina Cherkasska has died in Odesa at the age of 81. She dedicated over 60 years of her life to the performing arts. A native of Odesa, she demonstrated her acting talent from a young age and completed her studies at the Kyiv Theatrical Institute.
Cherkasska's career was a pillar of the Ukrainian theatrical tradition, a period spanning the Soviet era and the nation's independence. From 1963, she worked at the Odesa Ukrainian V. Vasylko Theater, where she was the leading actress in 13 anniversary productions. Her contribution to theatrical art left a significant mark on the cultural life of the region and Ukraine as a whole.
Her final stage role was in a drama based on Andrukhovych's work in April of last year, underscoring her dedication to her profession until the very end. A public farewell for the actress will be held on February 21 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the foyer of the V. Vasylko Ukrainian Theater.
This memorial will provide an opportunity for colleagues, friends, and admirers to express their condolences and pay tribute to a great artist.
