Anastasia sings in a London salon: clients didn’t recognize the star

According to The Sun: Clients of a nail salon in East London were amazed to learn they were sitting next to one of the biggest pop stars of the early 2000s.

A young man didn’t recognize the celebrity, but upon hearing her sing, he immediately understood who she was.

The 57-year-old star, who has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, was recognized only after one of the visitors asked her about her hometown.

James Robertson shared with The Sun that this unexpected meeting started as an ordinary day.

'I’m from East London myself, born here. I was having a normal day until this happened,' he recounts.

“My girlfriend wanted to get a manicure; she only goes to one salon in Bethnal Green.'

“I was just sitting there, minding my own business when a woman next to me spoke with an American accent, and I asked where they were from,” he notes.

“She replied ‘Chicago’, and I said, ‘Oh, I’ve always wanted to go there’.”

Then another client hinted that this woman was actually quite famous.

He continues: “The woman sitting next to me said that the woman was actually famous, and I immediately started thinking who it could be.”

The mystery was quickly solved when Anastacia herself started listing some of her songs.

“I couldn’t guess. Then the woman next to me asked Anastacia, whom I didn’t know at the time, to name some of her songs, and she started doing that,” the fan recounts.

“The first song she named was ‘I’m Outta Love’, which, admit it, who doesn’t know that absolute hit?”

“I was stunned! It felt like visiting a nail salon on a festive evening!”

“Everything was incredible. Who would have thought that going for a manicure with a friend would turn into a magical moment I’d never forget.”

Anastacia rose to fame in the early millennium, becoming one of the most recognizable female voices in pop music.

Her debut single ‘I’m Outta Love’ topped music charts across Europe and remains a classic of the early 2000s.

This year she performed an impressive 64 shows across the UK and Europe as part of her sold-out tour ‘Not That Kind’.

The tour is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of her debut album, which bears the same name.

Speaking last month on ITV's 'This Morning', she noted: “In three weeks I’ll finish 70 shows of this tour this year.”

“I’m so grateful for this as it’s a 25th anniversary, and it felt like people really had something to celebrate, and every audience, every country was extremely glad to be there.”

“When I got to the number 25, I really thought, ‘Oh, that’s quite interesting. I feel like there’s a place where my music is still played, they really like my music still. I feel great.”

Since the release of her first album in 2000, the icon has released seven more albums and completed seven world tours.
