Putin wants to talk to Trump from a position of strength on the Ukrainian issue — expert.
In his first speech after the announcement of the presidential election results in the United States of America, Donald Trump, who received the necessary majority of votes, stated that he is ready "to do everything so that there are no wars in the world at all".
The president of the Analytical Center "Politics," Oleg Lisny, talked about Moscow's reaction to this statement and possible consequences on the air of the FREEДОМ channel.
The expert noted that the first reaction to this statement by Donald Trump from Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov is indicative, who stated that in the near future, the so-called "SVO" will not be completed anyway, and the end of the war is not calculated in hours or days.
"I consider Peskov's statement shortsighted. Trump no longer talks about 24 hours. This is normal, this is a vivid example of what a candidate says and how a president acts. And when Peskov, to a person who really dislikes being challenged, says that what you plan will not work. And this is Peskov saying. Who is Peskov compared to the President of the United States? It's actually good that Russians are starting to show their character. And this inspires me because if Putin also starts to show character, then Trump might move on to simple decisions, for example, oil at 40 dollars," said Lisny.
The political analyst believes that as a result of the past elections, where Republicans also took a majority in both houses of the US Congress, Donald Trump has formed a rather powerful concentration of power, which could affect the speed of decision-making.
Putin wants to talk to Trump from a position of strength on the Ukrainian issue, let's say. To show that he seizes everything, kills everyone, destroys everyone. It is a good option for us that he will talk like that. If Trump gets angry, then he might make decisions that are supported very quickly," he said.
Meanwhile, the political analyst is confident that the issue of resolving conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine is not of primary importance to Trump.
He has a mega-goal, as far as I can see now, it's China. There is a risk that the issues of the Middle East and Ukraine are at least in second place for him after China. And whether he will want to strengthen or weaken the cooperation positions of someone with China at the expense of one or the other component, I mean primarily Russia. So everything is not simple here, but I think we will have to look at his team, which will form this vision for him or adjust his vision," summarized Lisny.
