Harris accuses financial magnate Thomas Senge of stealing funds and has filed a lawsuit in the US to get his money back.
The new father Harris, whose fortune is estimated to be around 220 million pounds, worked with Senge and his international accounting firm for 13 years.
His lawyers say the relationship deteriorated after the artist, whose real name is Adam Wiles, was forced to invest in the CMNTY Culture Campus project.
The court documents mention that Harris, who comes from Dumfries, did not receive details about the deal and simply signed the documents handed to him by Senge.
In particular, he signed a loan for 7.3 million pounds and invested 9.1 million pounds in the project.
“To date, the plaintiffs do not know where their investments went and what they were spent on.”
Lawyers said: “In any case, the defendants had no intention of ensuring Mr. Wiles the full repayment of the invested amount through distributions or otherwise.”
Harris's legal team claims that Senge agreed in January to repay the loan but has not yet paid the money as of now.
Moreover, they reported that Senge ceased collaboration with the 41-year-old DJ in April.
The lawyers claim that the investment has turned out to be “a complete disaster, at worst a total fraud.”
They also discovered that after filing the lawsuit, they learned that the CMNTY Campus project is “deteriorating.”
Initially, the developers assured that the project would transform the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood.
They claimed that they were planning to include studios, office spaces, and exclusive lounges for artists.
However, the decline in the real estate market led to the project now being reconceived as two residential high-rises.
Sasha Fried, Senge's attorney, stated that Harris wanted to actively participate in the development and is one of several investors.
She added: “Dissatisfied with the pace of the project, he decided to initiate a private arbitration to express his discomfort.”
“It is no secret that real estate projects take longer due to interest rates and other market factors. But this project is very viable and its valuation will exceed 900 million dollars when completed. Mr. Senge denies any wrongdoing.”
Harris is considered the richest DJ in the world and could charge up to 1 million pounds for an appearance.
In 2023, he came under scrutiny from a French court when he was sued by musicians Mikael Sibene and Patrice Adekaola, who claimed he turned their song into the hit Slide.
This year, Harris was also involved in a spat with the dance collective Chicane after he was accused of copying a song for the summer hit Blessings.
However, Harris responded and called him a “stupid bastard.”
The chart star became a father for the first time in July when his son Mika was born.
Proudly, he called his wife, Radio 1 presenter Vick Hope, a “superhero.”
The situation surrounding Calvin Harris remains a topic of conversation in the media. In particular, his fight for the return of funds and support for his family, especially his newborn son, shows his desire for stability in both personal and professional life. It also highlights the risks associated with large investments in competitive and unpredictable industries.
