Russia's representative at the UN Security Council meeting Anna Evstigneeva declined to answer a question about the presence of North Korean troops in Russia.
The US Deputy Representative to the UN Robert Wood stated that he asked Russia whether there are North Korean troops in Russia.
"And did not receive an answer – at all. This question – about DPRK troops in Russia – was raised this morning by the Russian representative," said Wood. "I am asking again – only because it was raised by the Russian representative: are there DPRK troops in Russia?"
Anna Evstigneeva avoided answering the question, stating that a statement would be sent to the US translated into English.
Prior to this, Evstigneeva criticized statements by politicians, including the UN Secretary-General, regarding concerns over the involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine.
"Some members of the Security Council once again spoke about the dispatch of North Korean units to Ukraine," she read, running her finger along the text. "The Secretary-General also made a mark, who confused with his statement" regarding the concern over the deployment of DPRK military in Russia. Nevertheless, the Secretary-General did not condemn the military aid to Ukraine
Evstigneeva also appealed to South Korea, urging not to help Ukraine.
