71 combat clashes in a day: how the Armed Forces of Ukraine stop the occupiers' assaults in all directions.
According to FREEДOM:
Combat Clashes on the Front
On August 26, there were 71 combat clashes on the front. The most active actions of the enemy are observed in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka directions. This was reported by FREEДOM, referring to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 16:00.
Address to the Military
At a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the military for their resilience and discussed the key needs of the units.
“It is very important that the nature of the situation in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv regions is determined by our units. I would especially like to mention the 225th Assault Brigade, the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade, and our units of the Special Operations Forces. Thank you!” wrote the head of the Ukrainian state on Facebook.
Successes of the Ukrainian Military
The fighters note that they are destroying all small infantry groups of Russians who unsuccessfully try to break through the Ukrainian defense.
“One quality FPV crew can stop a mechanized infantry assault. This illustrates the significance of unmanned systems,” emphasizes the commander of the training company for drone systems specialists.
According to the information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 16:00, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled several enemy attacks in various directions of the front, including Kramatorsk, Northern, and Southern Slobozhansky.
“The Russians now have this approach: they kill one soldier — they send a new one. Many of them actually have no goal to engage in combat, break through our defenses, or destroy strongholds. Their goal is to advance as deeply as possible, seize a position, and wait for reinforcements,” told military observer Denys Popovych.
New Operations in Toretsk
Ukrainian defenders conducted a risky operation in the city of Toretsk, destroying a strategically important target. Sappers, under the cover of armored vehicles, went to the front to lay explosives.
“The weather immediately set the right tone — thick fog not only concealed us but also uplifted our spirits, instilling confidence that everything would work out. We entered, carefully examined the premises, and descended into the basements. The result exceeded expectations — it was truly spectacular!” recounts a sapper of the 'Tsunami' assault battalion.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attempted to attack nine times, but all attempts were repelled. The situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains complicated, with 24 unsuccessful attacks recorded.
“If you look at the situation, the entire front is burning. The peculiarity is that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are transitioning to an active defense tactic. This is extremely important because whoever retains the initiative controls the battlefield,” commented the situation Pavlo Lakiychuk.
Successes in Destroying Equipment
One accurate strike by the Ukrainian military destroyed a T-80 tank that the enemy planned to use for a potential breakthrough.
Also, a ZU-23 was destroyed in the Lyman direction, and in the Zaporizhzhia front, the Russians lost an engineering system for remote mining.
It was previously reported that over the past day, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated 890 Russian occupiers and destroyed enemy equipment.
The situation on the front remains tense, but the Ukrainian army demonstrates resilience and effectiveness in defending its positions. Constant changes in the battlefield indicate activity from both Ukrainian defenders and the enemy, making this stage of the conflict particularly challenging.
