Russia plans to use DPRK troops in front-line operations - US at the UN.
The North Korean military, who will be involved in the war against Ukraine, are legitimate military targets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Robert Wood at a UN Security Council meeting discussing North Korea's tests of long-range ballistic missiles.
According to Wood, the DPRK continues its illegal missile program and has launched over 100 ballistic missiles since the beginning of 2022. Russia illegally trains about 10,000 DPRK military personnel on its territory, indicating an intention to use them in front-line operations.
If North Korean troops participate in combat actions against Ukraine, they will be legitimate military targets, warned Wood.
According to him, "the unprecedented level of direct military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK" will have consequences for security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region.
