Russian military personnel who occupied positions in the women's colony in the village of Mala Loknya, Kursk region, but fled after the assault by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, were awarded orders and medals for courage and bravery. This was reported by the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov.

Smirnov stated that the women's colony housed military personnel from the motorized rifle battalion of the Northern military group and border guards.

He claims that the Russian military continued to hold the colony despite it being surrounded and subjected to attacks by superior Ukrainian Armed Forces supported by BMP Marder and Stryker.

The acting governor stated that the Russian military allegedly turned the complex of colony buildings into a fortress, set up defensive structures around the perimeter, and bravely held the defense for several days.

Meanwhile, as noted by Astra, eventually the Russian military retreated when a Ukrainian tank destroyed the buildings on the colony's territory, making further holding of positions pointless.

Recall that on August 23, it became known that Ukrainian military forces were storming the women's colony building in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. It is there that Russian soldiers have set up firing positions.

In the village of Mala Loknya, 14 km from the Ukrainian border, Russian military forces turned the women's correctional colony No. 11 into a fortress and are providing fierce resistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is likely that even the colony guards are participating in the defense of the facility. Since 2011, the colony has housed 203 convicted female criminals sentenced to terms ranging from 10 to 20 years of imprisonment.

In the meantime, several dozen Russian soldiers have entrenched around the colony, erected barricades, and use the prison watchtowers as firing positions, and the massive buildings as protection from Ukrainian attacks.

By the way, the Russian invaders have built another, already the fifth pontoon crossing over the Seim river in the Kursk region.
