The occupiers plan to create an entertainment center on the site of the destroyed 'Azovstal' factory.
According to NEXTA Live, the occupiers intend to build museums, hotels, shops, recreation areas, and a tourist attraction called 'Blast Furnace'. The cost of the project is estimated at 100 billion rubles, and according to the occupiers, by 2035 the plant will be transformed into a unique tourist site.
According to Glavkom, in 2024, the authorities returned about 22.8 thousand people to the territory of the Donetsk region controlled by Ukraine, while evacuating about 236 thousand people. However, the Donetsk Regional Military Administration did not respond to the request regarding specific settlements, as such information is not collected.
In the autumn of 2024, the deputy head of the 'Servant of the People' faction, Maksym Tkachenko, reported the return of about 150 thousand internally displaced persons to temporarily occupied territories, including 70 thousand people in Mariupol. However, he later denied this information and called it an assumption.
