The Situation on the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad Axis

According to UATV: Intense fighting continues on the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad axis, where Russian forces have sustained significant casualties in attempts to advance toward Dobropillia. Although the adversary has effectively seized Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, Ukrainian defenders maintain an active, localized defense. In August 2025, Russian troops broke through toward Dobropillia, but by October 2025, Ukrainian forces had eliminated the Dobropillia salient. This axis remains a critical and fiercely contested sector of the front line.

During these engagements, the Russian army suffered serious losses. According to Pavlo Lakiychuk,

"The enemy has effectively captured Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. But a focal-point defense is being conducted."
This indicates that while the enemy controls these territories, Ukrainian military resistance persists.

Strategic Shifts on the Front

Simultaneously, the Russian command, acknowledging the difficulties on this axis, is redirecting part of its forces southward to the Huliaipole area.

"A sign of this is that the Russian command is redirecting part of its forces,"
notes Lakiychuk. This points to a shift in the strategic priorities of the Russian army as it tries to adapt to new battlefield conditions.

Due to successful strikes by defense forces north of Huliaipole, Russian troops there have shifted to a defensive posture, confirming the effectiveness of Ukrainian military actions.

"Now, implementing this maneuver into the rear of the Defense Forces is a highly dubious undertaking,"
emphasizes Lakiychuk, suggesting the enemy's offensive operations are becoming increasingly difficult.

The situation on the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad axis remains tense, with active combat and strategic adjustments on both sides. Ukrainian defenders continue their struggle, aiming not only to hold positions but also to conduct counteroffensive actions under constant pressure from Russian forces.

Current events on this front underscore the importance of strategic adaptation by both sides in a complex combat environment. Ukrainian successes in eliminating the Dobropillia salient and degrading Russian offensive potential may influence the future course of the conflict in the region. Meanwhile, the redirection of Russian forces to other axes may indicate a need to revise their military plans and strategy under growing pressure from Ukrainian defense forces.
