Russian athletes are massively leaving the country: Zhurova named the reason.
Expressing concern over the funding of Russian sports
According to inkorr.com: Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova expressed outrage over the insufficient funding of Russian sports. According to her, this may lead to the loss of talented young athletes. Many young athletes and their parents are considering leaving for abroad due to a lack of attention and support from the government, which negatively affects the country's potential in sports.
“The reserve is underfunded, they receive less attention, so they are tempted to leave for abroad. We have prepared good children, juniors, but they and their parents think: ‘Why don’t we leave for another country?’ We are losing ready material. It's all like with scientists, who can be tempted with some perks. I would definitely pay attention to this. What hinders the development of Russian professional sports? I think it is a lack of funding. Still, more attention needs to be paid,” emphasized Zhurova.
Involvement of athletes in political events
It is also worth noting the participation of Russian speed skater Alexandra Saitina in events that contradict the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee regarding neutral athletes. This raises questions about the influence of politics and propaganda on sports events and the choice of athletes. In the future, this may affect the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions and the image of the country in the sports world.
Thus, Svetlana Zhurova emphasized concern over the insufficient funding of Russian sports, which may prompt young talented athletes to seek opportunities outside the country. And the participation of athletes in propaganda events that violate the IOC's recommendations may negatively impact their participation in international competitions and the overall image of the country in sports. Russian sports are facing serious challenges that require attention and decisive action to support talented youth and develop sports in the country.
