Rutte commented on the possible return of Trump to the White House and the nuclear exercises of the alliance.
Mark Rutte: The US understands the importance of supporting Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his position on the possible return of Donald Trump to power in the US and commented on upcoming NATO nuclear exercises.
These statements were made after a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer in London.
I am absolutely convinced that the US is involved in this because they understand: it is necessary not only for Ukraine but also for themselves
Regarding the possibility of strikes with Western weapons on targets deep within Russian territory, Rutte noted that from a legal perspective, Ukraine can use its weapons to strike targets in Russia that pose a threat. However, he emphasized that the final decision rests with individual members of the alliance.
These exercises are vital for testing the alliance's defense and demonstrating readiness to respond to any threats
Rutte also reported on the upcoming annual NATO nuclear forces exercise Steadfast Noon, which will begin next week. According to him, about 60 military aircraft from 13 NATO countries, including F-35A fighters and B-52 strategic bombers, will participate in the exercises.
