US Senate demands investigation of Elon Musk's contacts with Putin.
Democratic senators are demanding an investigation into reports of Elon Musk's communication with Russian officials, including Vladimir Putin, for national security reasons. There are indications that Musk had several conversations with Russian representatives, including Putin, when he was running SpaceX. Such contacts pose a potential threat to US national security.
Senators believe it is necessary to investigate Musk's involvement in SpaceX programs and to suspend him from certain contracts and privileges. Given that Musk has financially supported Trump and has considerable influence, the request for an investigation may be unlikely.
There are also concerns about the satellite network Starlink created by Musk, which could be used for military communication and is already being actively used by Ukrainian armed forces. Lawmakers agree that Musk's actions may pose a threat to national security, thus requiring a review of SpaceX's role in the Department of Defense's commercial space integration.
