Shawn Murphy is outraged by the schedule for Champion of Champions: It's unprofessional.
Shawn Murphy's stance on the tournament organization
According to The Sun: Shawn Murphy, former world champion of 2005, expressed his outrage regarding the organization of the Champion of Champions tournament. He accused the organizers of being 'unqualified' and showing 'disrespect' towards him.
In his emotional speech, Murphy highlighted the problem with the match schedule. Feeling the effects of the time zone change, he suffered a 4-1 defeat to Scottish Open champion Lea Peifan in a match that started at 1:00 PM on the first day of the seven-day event in Leicester.
'I believe this is a complete disrespect towards me as a player. I expect the organizers to work at a proper level.'– he stated.
Shawn Murphy is entitled to his opinion, as competitions with such history and significance should adhere to certain organizational standards. His case underscores the importance of proper match planning to avoid inconveniences for players. This situation could affect further tournaments, as professional players need conditions for optimal performance.
