Scandal at the special school in Ternopil region. The director has been dismissed from her position.
The director of Novosilskaya special school has been dismissed due to cases of violence against children
The director of Novosilskaya special school in Ternopil region, Darya Komenda, has been dismissed from her position. In November, it was reported about cases of violence, including sexual violence, that occurred in this institution. This was reported by Volodymyr Boleshiuk, the first deputy head of Ternopil regional council.
Komenda's dismissal does not stop the investigation of violations of children's rights at the special school. On the contrary, Ternopil regional council deputies expect objective results of the investigations and demand accountability for all those involved in violations of children's rights, said Boleshiuk.
The council will also announce a competition for the position of the special school director, Boleshiuk said.
Earlier, a monitoring group from the Ombudsman's Office conducted an unscheduled visit to one of the facilities for children in Ternopil region. During the inspection, many violations of the rights of children with special educational needs were found in the special school. This was reported by Dmytro Lubynets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
Monitoring will be conducted after a call to the Ombudsman's 'hotline' regarding violence against children in the facility. In addition, alcohol was found in the cooking class, accessible to children, Lubynets added.
Lawyer Inna Miroshnychenko stated that the vast land on which Novosilskaya special school is located is being used by a 'local agro-magnate'. Residents have cooled to testify about violence against students due to fear of the agro-oligarch. This information was published by Miroshnychenko on her Instagram page.
Miroshnychenko noted that the land, the issuance of which was sanctioned by the state, is being used for free, and the land is managed by the deputy director.
