About 300 soldiers from North Korea died in the Kursk region, reported the National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea. Overall, North Korean forces suffered losses in this region of about 3,000 individuals, among whom 2,700 were injured.

This figure exceeds the data reported in December by 200 soldiers. At that Time, South Korean intelligence claimed there were 100 dead and about 1,000 injured North Korean soldiers.

It should be noted that in early January 2025, Ukrainian forces launched an offensive in the Kursk region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the villages of Berdyn and Velike Soldatske in Kursk. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko, stated that this was a surprise for Russia.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine began the offensive in several directions: in the area of Leonidivka in the northwest of Sudzha, as well as in the area of Rusky Porichny, Cherkasky Porichny, and Martynivka to the northeast of Sudzha.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky published a video of the interrogation of two North Korean soldiers, who were reportedly captured by special forces and paratroopers.

The Washington Post

The Washington Post reported that if Ukrainian forces retreat from Kursk, they will also take with them 60,000 troops deployed by Russia, who will occupy more territory of Ukraine.
