Heat up to +35°C and fire danger: what weather is expected in Ukraine on August 16.

Today, August 16, dry weather is expected in Ukraine, but with brief summer rains and thunderstorms. It will also be hot in Ukraine over the weekend.

This was reported by meteorologists from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center and Natalka Didenko.

According to meteorologists' forecasts, in the coastal areas of the Sea of Azov and in Crimea, wind gusts of 15–17 m/s are expected in places. During the day, the average temperature in Ukraine will be +25...+30 °C, while in the southern part of the country it will be up to +28...+33 °C. In Transcarpathia, temperatures may reach +30...+35 °C.

Fire danger on August 16

Meteorologists and rescuers warn that fire danger increases during heat. Residents are urged to refrain from lighting fires, burning dry grass and trash, and to observe all fire safety rules in outdoor areas. Thus, on August 16, fire danger is expected in the western regions of Ukraine in all areas except Ternopil. A high risk of fire is also anticipated in Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and all southern regions of the country.

According to the meteorologist, today's air temperature in Ukraine will rise to +25...+29 °C. In the south and Transcarpathia, it will reach +30...+32 °C. On Sunday, August 17, a slight decrease in temperature to +22...+26 °C is forecasted in the west and north of the country. Natalka Didenko explained that the cooling is caused by transitional fronts that will bring local precipitation. At the same time, in the south, east, and most of the central regions, the weather will be hot — +30...+35 °C, with no precipitation. The sky will remain clear. In Kyiv over the weekend, the weather will be dry with a temperature of +25...+27 °C, but starting Monday, the temperature will drop to +22 °C.

Previously, climatologist Svitlana Krakowska predicted future climate changes in Ukraine and the possibility of barren deserts emerging. It should be noted that meteorologists had given a weather forecast in Lviv for today, August 16.
