Stephen took the stage to a storm of applause from the audience.
“While I have your attention, is anyone hiring?”
he joked, referencing his team.
“Because I have 200 very qualified candidates who could start in June.”
“I also brought my resume,” he continued, showing an old professional photo of himself.
“I haven't had a chance to update my photo, but I think it still works!”
Stephen also humorously referenced his trip to Istanbul, pointing to a place where one can get plastic surgery.
“I only have one. Harrison Ford, can you pass this to Spielberg?”
After this, he approached Harrison Ford in the audience, who, showing his sense of humor, accepted the photo and resume.
Then, Stephen presented the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series to Seth Rogen for his role in The Studio.
CBS Cancels Colbert's Talk Show
In July, CBS announced the cancellation of the entire Late Show franchise in May 2026, including Stephen Colbert's talk show.
September 8 of this year marks ten years since Stephen became the host, replacing David Letterman, who started the show.
When the comedian announced that he would no longer be hosting starting May 2026, he also noted that he would not be replaced.
“It's all just disappearing,”
Stephen told the disappointed live audience.
Executives at Paramount Global and CBS also mentioned that the “difficult decision” was “purely financial” and not related to the show's success, but it came as a blow to its fans.
Stephen had already had conflicts with CBS, as he previously criticized the network over a 16 million dollar deal with the White House tied to a 60 Minutes interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
The well-known comedian has always been characterized by his critical statements in the media, especially regarding politics. Before becoming the host of The Late Show, he worked as a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, where he gained widespread popularity.
Colbert left the program in 2005 to launch The Colbert Report, which ran for nine years until it was canceled in December 2014.
