IDF fighters discovered and eliminated three Hamas militants, confirming that one of them was Yahya Sinwar.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz noted that this is a significant achievement for Israel and a victory against radical Islam.
Yahya Sinwar became the new leader of Hamas after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh. He was known as the organizer of an attack that killed Israelis and took hostages.
Sinwar also used hostages as a "human shield" and always carried explosives in his bag.
In 2015, the US recognized Yahya Sinwar as a "global terrorist of particular importance".
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to block humanitarian aid in the northern part of Gaza to drive out Hamas militants.
Also, after the presidential elections, the US plans to unveil a plan for Gaza's reconstruction after the end of hostilities.
