Strategic Partnership: Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall Expand Arms Production in Ukraine.
Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall Plan Joint Venture
The Ukrainian defense concern Ukroboronprom has signed a Memorandum with the German company Rheinmetall on cooperation regarding the possible establishment of a new joint venture. According to information from Ukroboronprom, the parties have agreed on future cooperation in creating production capacities for manufacturing artillery ammunition on the territory of Ukraine.
“The full-scale war has proven that the need for artillery shells is enormous, and the existing capabilities of enterprises are insufficient to fully cover it. Therefore, every new ammunition plant, every new production line is critically important for supporting the military. We must leverage all opportunities to create such capacities,” noted the General Director of Ukrainian Defense Industry Oleg Gulyak.
The company reminded that in June 2024, the first workshop for the repair and production of armored vehicles of the first joint venture of Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall commenced operations.
Analysis
The signing of the Memorandum between Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall indicates the intention to elevate the production of artillery ammunition in Ukraine to a new level. The establishment of a joint venture will improve the defense sector of the country and ensure the necessary artillery equipment for military needs.
