The High Anti-Corruption Court decided to lift the arrest from the private residence of former President Viktor Yanukovych, known as "Mezhyhirya". This information was published by the organization Transparency International Ukraine.

The arrest was lifted from the residence itself and the land plot on which it is located.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine filed a petition to lift the arrest from Yanukovych's property. The former president's lawyers opposed the lifting of the arrest, arguing that it was necessary to wait for the final court decision first. However, the judge decided to cancel the arrest.

This can be considered the final step before the transfer of "Mezhyhirya" to the state.

Transparency International Ukraine reminded that, according to the investigation, Yanukovych received a country house in "Mezhyhirya" through a secret order from Yushchenko. Later, Yanukovych's son Oleksandr organized a scheme to illegally acquire the property of the residence through the company LLC "Tantalit".

To carry out the property exchange, the value of "Mezhyhirya" was inflated, and the property of the private firm was valued above the market rate. In September 2007, the Cabinet officially completed the exchange process, and "Mezhyhirya" fully came under the control of the Yanukovych family.

In 2017, the Kyiv Economic Court of Appeal declared the removal of the "Mezhyhirya" residence from state ownership invalid.

For five years, the property of former President Viktor Yanukovych located in the "Mezhyhirya" residence has not been nationalized, and the territory of the residence has caused damage to the state. The competition for management has been postponed several times, and the public organization that manages "Mezhyhirya" for five years does not provide access to the financial data of the residence.

The National Park of Ukraine "Mezhyhirya" closed its doors to visitors on May 29 to prevent a possible seizure of the territory. However, on July 19, "Mezhyhirya" was reopened to the public after returning to state ownership.
