Public Broadcasting has banned artists from Russia and occupied territories from participating in the national selection.
According to inkorr.com: The company 'Public Broadcasting' is taking measures to prevent artists who performed in occupied territories from participating in the national exhibition. The ban applies to those who held concerts in Russia, Crimea after 2014, as well as in other occupied regions of Ukraine and Belarus after 2022. This information was disclosed by the site 'Glavkom', citing the company's press service.
Olya Polyakova's Initiative
Singer Olya Polyakova has also proposed to change the conditions for artists participating in the national selection for Eurovision. Producer Mykhailo Yasytskyi, who collaborates with Polyakova, supported this initiative, which aims to review the rules for artists who performed in the territory of the Russian Federation and occupied regions after 2014.
These measures and initiatives aimed at supporting patriotic values in the Ukrainian cultural space highlight the importance of the position of creative personalities in response to current challenges. The ban on the participation of artists with a compromised reputation may become another step towards strengthening national identity in Ukrainian culture.
