Svytlana Poklad on love with Ihor Poklad: We were too similar.

According to inkorr.com: Svyatlana Poklad, the widow of the People's Artist of Ukraine Ihor Poklad, shared the story of their love in an interview with the publication 'Glavkom'. She admitted that she does not remember the details of their meeting, but their relationship began when she was in her second year of university. After a long adjustment period to each other, their relationship had to face certain difficulties.

“We took a long time to get used to each other. We were getting used to each other, getting used to each other, and for some reason, we realized that this was not the time when we could be together. I don't know why, but somewhere deep down, I felt that something was holding us back. Ihor Dmytrovych was very afraid of my youth – he was not just a popular composer at the time, but extremely popular. And me... I was a young student, a breeze in my head.”

After divorcing her husband, Svyatlana left the country, but eventually, they realized that they had rushed and decided to reconnect. Their relationship lasted until the death of Ihor Poklad in 2025, just short of their coral wedding anniversary.

“But at some point, we realized that we had been a bit hasty and that we shouldn't have broken up. Although now, from the height of years, I understand that if we had stayed together then, we would have eventually broken up. Because we were too similar: explosive, emotional, often dissatisfied with something. I loved to insist on my own, while Ihor Dmytrovych couldn't stand it when someone disagreed with him. Our impulsiveness left us no chance to be together. And later, when the emotions settled down, when reason took priority – that's when we decided to be together.”

The Creativity of Ihor Poklad

Ihor Poklad is famous for his songs and music for numerous musicals, operettas, films, and cartoons. His creative work includes more than 150 songs, among which are masterpieces like 'Zelen-klen', 'Dva kryla', 'Tyha voda'. In 1997, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine, and later he became a Hero of Ukraine and a National Legend.

The love story between Ihor and Svyatlana Poklad is not only romantic but also emotional.
