Yuriy Allero

Place of birth. Education.
He was born in Lviv. In 1985, he graduated from the Leningrad Higher Military Command School. He served in the Armed Forces of the USSR, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the National Guard of Ukraine. In 1997, he graduated from the Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, studying at the operational-tactical department.
Career.
He progressed from platoon commander to head of the Western Territorial Administration of the National Guard of Ukraine (since March 2010).
In March 2011, he obtained a degree of candidate of military sciences, defending a dissertation in the specialty 'Service-combat activities of law enforcement forces'.
On August 23, 2011, Allero was awarded the military rank of Major General.
In 2012, he was the head of the Southern Territorial Command of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and in August of the same year returned to the position of head of the Western territorial administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the spring of 2014, this territorial administration became a unit of the National Guard.
On August 23, 2014, Allero received the rank of Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On December 30, 2015, by decree of President Petro Poroshenko, Yuriy Allero was appointed Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine. Presenting the new commander of the National Guard, Poroshenko emphasized that he knows Allero as 'a true warrior who has distinguished himself in the toughest periods of the ATO.'
On August 23, 2017, he was awarded the military rank of Colonel General.
Criminal case.On May 14, 2019, Yuriy Allero was detained as a suspect in embezzling property of the Main Directorate of the National Guard amounting to 81.64 million hryvnias. He was also detained along with the director of the construction company Ukrbud Maxim Mykytas and an appraiser. The Anti-Corruption Bureau established that in the 2000s, the National Guard and the construction company entered into an agreement, under which a residential complex was to be built on the territory of the former military unit in the center of Kyiv. In exchange for a 1-hectare land plot, the National Guard was to receive 50 apartments and 30 parking spaces in the new residential complex.In 2016-2017, the parties signed additional agreements, according to which the National Guard refused to accept apartments in Pechersk in exchange for 65 apartments in a building that the company was building on the outskirts of Kyiv (near the subway station Boryspilska). According to the investigation, the value of these apartments was 81.6 hryvnias less than that appraised for the apartments that the National Guard was to receive in Pechersk. NABU detectives have been investigating since December 2017 based on materials from the journalistic investigation program BIHUS.INFO.
On May 17, 2019, the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv took Yuriy Allero into custody, setting a bail of 4.8 million hryvnias. On May 20, Allero was released from custody on bail.
Awards. Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the third degree, medal 'Defender of the Fatherland.'
