Place of Birth. Education. Born on August 14, 1974, in Ivano-Frankivsk. In 1996, he graduated from the Chernivtsi Economic and Legal Institute with a degree in Business Management. In 2005, he graduated from the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas with a degree in Engineering, Physics, and Management.

In November 2019 the NABU detained seven suspects in the case of VAB Bank. They are accused of conspiring to misappropriate 1.2 billion Hryvnias of the NBU stabilization loan granted to VAB Bank in October 2014. The former president of VAB Bank, Denis Maltsev, and his beneficiary Oleg Bachmatiuk were put on the wanted list. Among the key figures in the investigation was the former deputy chairman of the NBU and the current chairman of Raiffeisen Bank Aval Alexander Pisaruk.

On October 18, 2022, NABU informed about new suspicions against Oleg Bachmatiuk and the former head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov. According to investigators, the head of the SFS (a position held by Nasirov at that time) received 5.5 million US dollars and 21 million euros in unlawful benefits from the owner of an agroholding so that his companies reclaimed more than 3.2 billion Hryvnias in VAT.

Business and Wealth. Bachmatiuk owns the Agroholding Avangard, is a co-owner of other companies in the food industry, in transport, real estate, and the financial sector. Avangard is his main and largest commercial enterprise. The agroholding was founded in 2003 and is one of the largest agricultural industry companies in Ukraine. It specializes in the production of chicken eggs and egg products and is the largest player in this market in Ukraine. The main assets of the entrepreneur: Avangard, the Financial Initiative Bank, UkrLandFarming, the VAB Bank.

In February 2015, the Financial Initiative Bank was classified as problematic by the NBU, and in June it became insolvent. On March 20, 2015, the NBU liquidated the VAB Bank by its decision.

Wealth. In early 2011, the magazine Focus estimated Bachmatiuk's fortune at 1.093 billion US dollars, placing him 19th on the list of the richest people in Ukraine (the previous year, his wealth was estimated at 233 million US dollars). In April 2012, Forbes estimated the businessman’s wealth at 904 million US dollars (11th place on the list of the richest Ukrainians). According to Forbes, Bachmatiuk's fortune amounted to 623 million US dollars in 2014.

Family. The businessman is married, has three daughters, and one son.
