Place of Birth. Education.
Place of Birth: Born in the city of Berdyansk, Zaporizhia region. In 1979, he graduated from the Shdanivskyi Metallurgical Institute (field of study - Machinery Technology, metal-cutting machine tools, qualification - Mechanical Engineer). In 2001, he graduated from the Dnipro branch of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine (program - public administration, qualification - Master of State Management).
Career.
In 1979 - Master of repair of technological equipment at the Berdyansk plant Yuzhgidromash.
From 1980 to 1981 - Technologist of the Yuzhgidromash plant.
From September to December 1981 - Secretary of the Komsomol committee of the Berdyansk Machine Engineering College.
From 1981 to 1986 - Second, then First Secretary of the Berdyansk City Committee of the Leninist Communist Youth Union.
From 1986 to 1988 - Deputy head of the workshop at the Yuzhgidromash plant.
From 1988 to 1990 - Head of the organizational department of the Berdyansk City Committee of the Communist Party.
From 1990 to 1991 - Second Secretary of the Berdyansk City Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
From 1991 to 1998 - General Director of the production company Avanta (Berdyansk).
From April 1998 to 2007 - Mayor of Berdyansk.
From 2007 to 2012 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VI convocation for the Lytvyn Bloc (No. 6 on the electoral list). Member of the Lytvyn Bloc faction (renamed in November 2010 to the People's Party faction). From 2007 to 2010 - Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Construction, Urban Planning, Housing and Regional Policy. As of November 2010 - Chairman of the Budget Committee.
In the 2012 parliamentary elections, he ran for Deputy in single-mandate district No. 78 (Berdyansk). He lost to independent candidate Oleksandr Ponomarov.
On March 3, 2014, he was appointed Governor of the Zaporizhia region by decree of the late President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, replacing Oleksandr Peklushenko in this position.
Member of the People's Party (Chairman - Volodymyr Lytvyn).
On October 27, 2014, he submitted his resignation at his own request and was dismissed on October 29 by decree of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
Family. Wife - Natalija Ihorivna (born in 1956), two daughters - Marina (born in 1977) and Olha (born in 1998).
