Career. 1980-1982 - Construction engineer, chief construction engineer of the chief technologist's department of the 'Fräser' plant.
1982-1989 - Scientist at the Institute for Economic Problems of the Comprehensive Development of Moscow, head of the secretariat of the All-Russian Union of Cooperatives, senior specialist of the Mosgorkommune's commission for cooperative activities.
From 1989 to 2011 - President of the company 'INTEKU'.
From 2006 to 2011 - Deputy Head of the Inter-Agency Working Group of the priority national project 'Accessible and Comfortable Housing for the Citizens of Russia', a member of the commission for the development of the affordable housing market at the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation for the implementation of priority national projects and demographic strategy.
After the sale of Inteko, Elena Baturina moved her business abroad in 2011. Currently, her assets include a hotel network (Ireland, Czech Republic, and Russia), a renewable energy project (Italy, Cyprus, and Greece), a membrane construction company (Germany), development projects in the USA and the European Union. She also actively invests in a number of development and real estate investment funds that operate the construction of residential and commercial properties in Europe and the USA.
Elena Baturina also owns shares in Gazprom and Sberbank.
Status. She is among the richest people in Russia, the richest woman in the Russian Federation. In 2010, she was recognized by Forbes magazine as the third richest woman in the world with a fortune of $2.9 billion.
In the ranking of world billionaires compiled by Forbes in 2018, Elena Baturina retained the title of the richest woman in Russia with a fortune of $1.2 billion, having been among the billionaires of the world for 13 consecutive years. In the rating of the 200 richest entrepreneurs in Russia by Forbes in 2018, Baturina took 79th place.
In 2019, she ranked 81st among the richest businesspeople in Russia with $1.2 billion.
In 2020, she was surpassed for the first time by the owner of Wildberries, Tatjana Bakalchuk ($1.4 billion), while remaining equal to $1.2 billion in 2019.
She was at the top of the list of the richest women in Russia from 2013 to 2020.

Family Relations. Widow. Husband - the former mayor of Moscow, Yury Luzhkov (died in 2019). Children: the eldest daughter Elena was born in 1992, the younger Olga in 1994.
