The life path of Irina Bekeshkina

Date of birth: 04.02.1952

Place of birth. Education. Born in the city of Iwdel in the Sverdlovsk region (Russia). In 1974, she graduated with a degree in philosophy from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Later, she obtained her doctorate at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Doctor of philosophical sciences.

Career. Sociologist, specialist in political and electoral research.

She worked as a scientific editor of the journal Philosophical Thoughts as well as junior and senior research associate at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR.

Since 1991, she has been a research associate at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

From 1996, she served as deputy director of the Democratic Initiative Foundation (Kyiv), and from 2001, she became the scientific leader of the foundation. She was the scientific editor of the Bulletin Political Portrait of Ukraine published by the foundation.

Since 2010, she was the director of the Democratic Initiative Foundation named after Ilko Kucheriv (after the death of the founder and leader of the foundation, Ilko Kucheriv).

Participant in the ranking 'The 100 most influential women of Ukraine' by the magazine Focus in 2007 and 2008. According to the magazine's assessment, her influence was attributed to her informedness, competence, and wide connections to Ukrainian and foreign NGOs, media, and political circles.

Author of over 100 scientific works and a large number of journalistic publications.

Death. Irina Bekeshkina passed away on March 21, 2020, at the age of 69.
